CMMG AR-15 .22 LR Conversion Kit review

Ceiner has been producing AR 22 Conversion kits for many years. Some of them worked well and some of them didn’t. If you were lucky enough to get one that worked well then you were laughing all the way to the shooting range. If you didn’t get a good one it was a nightmare working with Mr Ceiner to get it fixed or replaced. The best resolution was to start over and buy a new one hoping you had better luck next time around.

After having owned a Ceiner kit I was a little sceptical about the new CMMG AR-15 .22 Conversion Kit. I bought 3 of them just to test for quality control and function. I bought 2 carbon steel and 1 Stainless kit as well as a whole pile of magazines. I couldn’t be happier. CMMG is committed to their customers and their products. The quality control is excellent as all 3 kits have worked flawlessly. Maybe it’s the AR’s I have, but my kits love the Federal bulk pack ammunition you can buy at Wal-Mart. If you want total reliability buy the Federal 325 round Semi Auto Match packs. I haven’t bothered to test much else because the Federal stuff works so well. XRail Shotgun Magazine Extension System – SHOT Show 2010

Check out our video of the XRail by RCI Shotgun Magazine Extension System we took while at the 2010 SHOT Show. This is a great idea for military, police, home defense, or open class competition shooters.  XRail has a magazine or adapter to make one of their high capacity systems fit just about any popular shotgun. There are options; you can increase your round capacity by just a few, or load more than an entire box of shells with the 30+1 magazine.  The magazines have a unique  auto-indexing feature that automatically rotates the feed tubes while you shoot. Glock G22 GEN 4 Review

If you’re reading this article, you probably already know something about Glocks and would like to skip the part where we talk about what they’re made of and how many militaries and police departments around the globe use them.   I’ll start with the changes and the important stuff and then address  the over-discussed details that absolutely must be found in every article on a Glock handgun.

Glock G22 GEN 4 .40 S&W

As of right now, February 2010, the Glock GEN 4 is only available in the G22 and G17. The G22 is chambered in .40 S&W and is considered a “standard” size Glock. The G17 is chambered in 9mm (9x19mm) and is also considered “standard” size.  Glock is planning on releasing the GEN 4 in all of their models. As far as time frame goes, they will release the G19 and G23 this fall. The next models have yet to be determined and I was told their release will be based on demand.

Glock 22 GEN 4 – SHOT Show 2010

We had the opportunity to shoot the new for 2010 Glock GEN 4 at the SHOT Show Media day. The major changes in the Glock GEN 4 are the dual recoil spring and the ability to change the grip shape with plastic backstrap inserts that snap on and off. I was personally impressed by the recoil reduction. Glock isn’t publishing exactly how much recoil is reduced but one of the Glock employees said he had 9000 rounds through the new GEN 4 and he felt like the recoil was reduced at least 15%. I also heard numbers as high as 20% but so far I don’t know of anything official. We hope to do a full review of the Glock GEN 4 so watch our site for that in the future.

Magpul MBUS backup folding sights and AFG-1 Angled Fore Grip – SHOT Show 2010

Although the Magpul backup folding sights weren’t new for the 2010 SHOT Show they are still a fairly new product and if you haven’t seen them they are worth looking at. We were impressed. The best part about them is the price point. They are relatively inexpensive compared to other brands. The AFG-1 Angled Fore Grip is new and we liked it. It was completely designed with shooter ergonomics in mind.
